Texas Toast announces a Big Break on Spring Break in Big Bend

Marfa Culinary TourMarch 8, 2010 - Texas Toast Culinary Tours launched a new plan today for its West Texas cuisine adventure, letting you be the decider: You decide how to get there and you decide where to sleep – and we’ll provide the yummies, the inside skinny and all the fun you can ingest, March 24-28.

Join the food-touring outfit to find out how Marfa – one of the nation’s great art centers – has become a destination on the culinary map. In addition to breathtaking scenery and world-renowned art spaces, this Big Bend culture capital now provides sensational gastronomy discoveries.

Texas Toast has pared down the package to its food-and-wine elements, giving you big flavors for four days in late March for just $595. If you’ve wondered why the New York Times and other publications have raved about restaurants like Maiya’s, Blue Javelina and Austin Street Café, this is your chance to find out. This Marfa road trip also introduces you to the new culinary center at El Cosmico, found next to the famous Chinati Foundation, and we’re bringing you a chuck-wagon breakfast from the original Reata in neighboring Alpine.

In addition, you’ll be treated to a wine-and-food pairing class and dinner at Cathedral Mountain, the vineyard owned by Times Ten Cellars; a picnic lunch beside the Rio Grande in Big Bend National Park; a farmstand tour, cooking class and lunch with chef Louis Lambert, owner of Jo’s and Lambert’s restaurants in Austin and Fort Worth; and a cookout with live music and star-gazing beneath the magnificent West Texas night sky.

Hurry! The registration deadline is March 15; book your trip at www.texastoastculinarytours.com; call 817-239-1634 or 817-228-5220 with questions. Visit the website also to read about other road trips and tours.

Note: For Marfa lodging, your options include El Cosmico (www.elcosmico.com); Hotel Paisano (www.hotelpaisano.com); and the Thunderbird Hotel (www.thunderbirdmarfa.com). For all Marfa information, visit www.marfacc.com.
